Development of Gear Induction Hardening - Solutions for Gear Induction Hardening

Gear hardened surface heat treatment process are: carburizing, nitriding and induction hardening. Gear induction hardening, compared with carburizing and nitriding, is energy saving, saving alloying elements, short production cycle, good working environment and can be online production and so on. First, single-frequency gear induction hardening

(1) Machine tool drive gear quenching using the earliest, but by the then quenching power supply frequency limit, most still use high frequency 200kHz or intermediate frequency 2.5 to 8kHz current induction hardening. This process often gets all-tooth hardened or half-teeth hardened gear.

(2) Gear frequency induction hardening, the general use of power frequency 2.5 to 10kHz, for modulus between 4 to 10mm, widely used in machine tools, automobiles and tractors gear. In addition to spur gears, helical gears, internal gears, bevel gears and sprockets are used.


Second, single-tooth heating or scanning hardening

(1) Single-tooth heating and quenching, intermediate frequency 8 to 10kHz commonly used in m=8mm above the large modulus gear. Single tooth along the tooth groove a heating method has been used for ship gear quenching.

Third, low-carbon steel induction hardening

This method uses the low permeability of the steel, the induction heating through the gear with intense cooling water into the quenching, get along the contours of the hardened layer and slightly increase the hardness of the heart.

This process has the following advantages:

(1) The induction heating power requirements are not high. (Commonly used 8kHz 100kW), that does not require a special frequency and high power density, equipment investment costs less.

(2) Low-hardened steel low cost, its price and similar to the carbon steel.

(3) Tooth surface has a high residual compressive stress, tooth core due to heat through, the hardness increased slightly, so the teeth of the bending resistance is improved, comprehensive mechanical properties.


Four, gear double frequency induction hardening

1. Gear double frequency hardening mechanism

Gear dual-frequency quenching mechanism is to use a lower frequency gear preheat, and then in the high-frequency heating.

2. Double frequency gear hardening method

Gear dual-frequency induction hardening can be achieved by two methods, namely single shot heating method and scan heating method.

Dual-frequency gear induction hardening process is used for large quantities of gear production, can replace the carburizing gear mode.
